Tell us a little about yourself...
My name is Gizem Gundem and I am of Turkish origin. 13 years ago, I came to Milan to study fashion and graduated from IED. I have always lived fashion with passion and curiosity, moving from design to buying to hosting my own fashion show on Turkish TV. After some travels around the world, fate brought me back to Milan, the city I love and where I live with my husband and two daughters. Today I work as a consultant for fashion, cosmetics, and interior design brands, for media production and content creation on Instagram.
How did your passion for photography begin?
Fashion and photography continuously intersect. I approached photography when I started creating and communicating the imagery of my fashion show on TV on Instagram. Today I draw inspiration from everyday life; I like to create beautiful and pleasant atmospheres on every occasion. Sometimes we forget how important it is to live in the moment!
What is your dream?
I love communicating and I love languages. I would like to have the freedom to go to places I've never been and perhaps stay there for six months, learn their culture and their language.
What does "light" mean to you?
Light is fundamental for every image. The image depends on light; whoever truly knows how to play with it and control it can claim to be a master of imagery. This applies to photography as much as to real life: when the light is perfect, we are all more beautiful.
