Tell us a little about yourself...
My name is Valeria Fioretta, I was born in 1982 in Turin, where I currently live with my family. I primarily work in three areas: as a web marketing consultant for small businesses, as an author (I wrote a novel published by Piemme in 2018, a writing manual that just came out, and my first podcast for Storytel will be released on December 4th), and as a talent (or micro-influencer).
How did your passion for photography begin?
In truth, I'm far less than a self-taught photographer. I don't own a camera; I only shoot with my mobile phone, and to be honest, I don't even have a great smartphone. I've never created any presets, I don't know how to use any photo editing software, and I don't know how to set up or manage lighting. I have big problems with fundamental concepts like contrast and saturation.
I'm also quite convinced that if I had a photographer or videographer, I wouldn't always look like I'd just run away from home. Who knows, maybe for some project, I'll hire one.
What I'm most passionate about is writing captions – giving meaning and value to a potentially anonymous or mediocre photo, thanks to a special text that represents me.
What is your biggest dream?
I have several, and they're not secrets because I always joke about them. I'd like a film to be made from my novel so I can personally work on the screenplay; I'd like a column in a prestigious magazine, similar to Susanna Agnelli's "Risposte private."
If I'm really going to dream big, I'd also like to win a Strega Prize, and I'd like everyone to say, "oh well, in this case, it was well deserved."
What does “light” mean to you?
For me, light means awakening, wakefulness, activity. I've always been a daytime person and naturally perform better in bright conditions.
