#LUCELAB : BONBORI

Explore the heart of the labs and get to know the people who bring them to life.

We are thrilled to present the second edition of LUCE LAB — a visual narrative through images and videos that will lead you to discover intimate and personal stories. Through the voices of the protagonists, we will enter their worlds, exploring memories, inspirations, and daily life moments, to understand the deep connection between creativity, identity, and personal space.

Each protagonist has chosen the garments from the SS25 SOUK collection that best represent her, transforming them into symbols of expression and confidence, capable of enhancing her style and accompanying her in daily life.

LUCE LAB continues to be a harmonious intertwining where fashion becomes a language and a tool for identity. A journey that celebrates the value of creative space, the connection between aesthetics and inspiration, and the power of personal expression through what we choose to wear every day.

But back to us...

Between a slice of cake, some chatter, and the yawns of a very relaxed Ofelia – the kitten who certainly didn't hesitate to steal the show by inserting herself between shots – Marina, along with her baby on the way, welcomed us into an environment that goes beyond the idea of home: a place full of memories, creativity, and an unprecedented oriental flavor. The perfect context to tell us the story of a brand born from a personal journey and the desire to share a new way of experiencing beauty.

BONBORI in Japanese means “lantern,” a symbol of light that illuminates typical oriental festivals. Beauty is not a mask, but an inner light to let emerge, without fear of showing oneself for who one truly is.

Marina - from BONBORI - wears the MARYLIN coral and POLINESIA cognac set;

“I was quite dependent on make-up and on covering what I thought was my potential light.” Over time, however, her approach to beauty changed radically. Thanks to the inspiration drawn from a specific Japanese beauty trend, Marina learned to perceive her skin differently, accepting and enhancing it. From this awareness, the idea of BONBORI was born, a line designed not only for herself but also for anyone who wants to experience the same lightness and authenticity. The very concept of the brand is inspired by Japanese skincare, which focuses not on stopping time but on prevention, emphasizing hydration and the layering of light textures to achieve maximum benefit without weighing down the skin.

“Clothing in my life really matters a lot.” Feeling comfortable in the clothes she wears is essential for Marina: when her look fully reflects her identity, everything becomes more natural. Among the items she chose is the Paloma geometric acqua, a piece that captivated her with its seventies spirit, from the lines to the pattern. Beyond the style, what she appreciates most is its versatility: she wears it comfortably while working and, with a simple change of top, she is ready to end the day with an aperitif—strictly non-alcoholic at this point in her life, but always with the same desire for sharing. For the second look, however, she chose the combo Marylin coral and Polinesia cognac as a true fan of mix & match. She likes the possibility of playing with accessories and transforming an outfit depending on the context.

The products all have Japanese names, among which there is one that Marina is particularly fond of: Tsuyadama. There is no equivalent term in Italian, but it means something smooth and polished, like the surface of a pearl. The product that, however, has had the fastest growth is the Mochi lip balm, inspired by the famous Japanese sweet. When Marina tried the definitive formula, the sensation on her lips reminded her of the firm and soft consistency of mochi, making the association with the name immediate.
