In this interview, Giorgia welcomed us into her tiny kitchen to share a special breakfast. CALAMARATA reinterprets "the most important meal of the day" as a unique experience, combining research, creativity, and attention to detail. Through food, Giorgia celebrates connections, transforming the table into a space for storytelling and bringing freshness and innovation through the special events she participates in.
"My home is a den, a refuge." Here, she has created a balance between domestic and work space, where she can express herself freely. It is in this environment that her project was born, designed to enhance breakfast, often overlooked compared to dinners and aperitifs. Every recipe is the result of everyday research inspired by images, music, and people. Giorgia meticulously curates every detail, from dish preparation to the objects on the table, which evoke memories and anecdotes from her life and the people she holds dear. The invitations and menus, personally designed by her, complete the experience, transforming each breakfast into a unique and enjoyable event.
"I really care about comfort." For Giorgia, clothing is closely linked to the creative process. Feeling comfortable is essential, both when working alone and during public events. She often chooses garments that evoke loved ones, such as the Cora military quilted jacket, which combines her father's favorite green, her mother's beloved blue, and a design that promotes comfort and freedom of movement. Other times, she opts for outfits that combine elegance and practicality, such as the Alison and Portogallo in black arrow look, enriched with luminous lurex details. A ready-to-wear outfit that adds a special touch without the need for jewelry, perfect like her porridge to-go, which she loves to prepare before a trip or on those frantic mornings.
"For me, morning means fruit." Giorgia places great importance on seasonality and the balance of flavors. Each breakfast she offers consists of five key elements: sweet, bitter, sour, crunchy, and comforting. Among the essential dishes are porridge, both hot and warm, and granola bowls, which harmoniously combine flavors and textures. The objects on her table tell personal stories, such as: handmade and personalized bowls by a ceramist friend, gifted mugs, or Iranian glasses purchased during a Parisian trip. Every detail, including the floral arrangement designed to enhance the dishes without overwhelming them, is meticulously curated, because nothing is left to chance.
The name CALAMARATA, born almost as a joke, is inspired by the musicality of the word, a common thread that has become an irresistible and easily catchy nickname. A distinctive aspect of Giorgia's project is her ability to offer a fresh and young proposal, with a new concept of events. In addition to creating unique experiences, she occasionally collaborates with other realities, such as ceramists and florists, who enrich and complete her menus, making each event even more special and collaborative.
