#MUSELUMINOSE : Caterina

My name is Caterina, I am 26 years old and I live in Verona with my parents and my brother. I teach singing and music to children aged 0 to 5, a job I have always fought very hard for, but which now makes me feel fulfilled when I go home in the evening because it gives me immense satisfaction.

I've always been passionate about singing, and until recently I performed every week in various concerts with a pop and jazz repertoire. What I love most and what gives me the most joy about music is teaching children because they learn so much from a very young age. In the first three years of life, they learn many more things, and it is precisely then that you can help them choose a path.

I teach a bilingual program, but in reality, when they are so young, the language is not important; it is mainly a preparatory activity. And not just for the children, but also for their parents. When we are born, we all have musical talent within us; the problem is that it needs to be cultivated: introducing children to music from an early age helps them with language, coordination, and relationships.

After graduating, I participated as an au pair in an internship at an Italian school in San Francisco, where I taught music to children. It was in the United States that I took a course in musical propaedeutics and realized that I really loved this job.

Light is something that shines in the dark and gives hope and direction to your life. Sometimes in bad times, the light can go out, but the desire to seek it is there because you know that you yourself can rekindle it. Sometimes you meet people who give you light and help you push yourself in its direction.
