Hi Amanda, tell us who you are…
Hi Luce, my name is Amanda Romagnoli, I recently turned 26 and I come from Urbino, a small Renaissance town located between Marche and Emilia Romagna. My cultural identity is split between Italy and France, as my mother is from there.
After a degree in communication and a master's in Luxury & Fashion Management at 24ORE Business School, I started an internship as a PR at Cartier Italy, in Milan.
Many describe me as a gentle and kind person, and I like to think that, just as a plant needs sunlight to live, I find and seek this "sun" by dedicating myself to my passions: travel, art (I don't like to admit it but I'm a romantic at heart, and everything from Neoclassicism to Impressionism to Art Deco has always caught my eye) and photography (I collect Polaroids and analog cameras).
I describe myself as an old soul: I really enjoy activities like gardening and knitting, passions I inherited from my mémé, my French grandmother who raised me and with whom I had a very strong bond.
What does beauty mean to you today?
In my opinion, there isn't a single answer. In a person, beauty can be found in different aspects. I myself am on a journey: I'm slowly starting to get to know myself, accepting what I once couldn't stand or didn't consider beautiful. I'm constantly searching to understand how to value those aspects I previously considered unimportant. Certainly, to appreciate beauty, one must first love oneself.
What does inclusivity and inclusive fashion mean to you?
It's a very popular topic lately, and when something is talked about a lot, most people consider it a trend. Take, for example, the concept of sustainability, which has become a trend. This is somewhat the flip side of the coin.
I think it's a necessary step for all those people who need to see themselves represented. In my opinion, the fashion world is moving in the right direction, but I believe there are still many things that can be done: for example, I would appreciate discussions that are not limited to the concept of sizes but are supported by concrete thought, not just "we have a wide range of sizes." Trying to ride the wave without a reasoning, a critical thought that can somehow create a conversation on the topic, remains an action for its own sake.
How would you encourage women to be more confident in their bodies?
I think a cultural discussion needs to happen first. There are many lessons that should be given to future generations about what unique beauty is, and I think that by trying to adopt this type of education and way of thinking, many things would change. Education plays a fundamental role in the change of society and of us as individuals. It's not just a matter related to the body. It's important to believe in ourselves and in what we desire, and to silence our most critical part that makes us harsh judges of ourselves. To do this, we must certainly choose a path that stimulates us, in our soul, in our ideals, and defend it tooth and nail because it can be a good compass. Passions are the engine of man, of life. My parents, my family taught me that.
What inspires you every day?
Every day I try to do and give my best. To maintain high positivity and the desire to push forward thanks to a mindset oriented to always see the good in things. It's a winning choice from my point of view. You can't always be happy, but this can help.
What do you want to convey through your Instagram profile?
I post and talk about what I like without worrying about how others might perceive my messages, and I remain open to dialogue. Once, I would never have imagined posting a photo if it wasn't perfectly edited. Now, however, I post increasingly less staged, more natural photos. Many times, people see me as distant, cold, but in reality, I'm clumsy and I really like to joke. I want to convey tranquility and kindness and talk about what I'm interested in: art and gardening.
One thing people don't know about you.
I'm a true nerd; extremely passionate about Japanese cultures. My dad traveled a lot in Japan in the 80s, at the height of the economic and technological boom. He was so fascinated by it that he passed it on to me. All of the East has a great appeal to me. One of my dreams is to visit Japan, Korea, and sooner or later I will definitely do it because I'm obsessed. I'm also teaching myself Japanese!
